Generally it applies that the companion structures for large antifriction bearings must not only be distortion-free but the contact surfaces for the mounting of the bearings must be as flat as possible.
Before the installation of a large antifriction bearing Rothe Erde recommend that the contact areas be measured by means of an optical machine or a laser measuring system.
If the measured values are outside of the Rothe Erde tolerances (see
Table 8)
Rothe Erde would recommend mechanical re-working. In some cases the re-working of spacious mating structures produces difficulties. However as a remedy we offer the use of portable processing machines (see pictures) (also for upper constructions and overhead machining).

Reputable companies can execute this work according to Rothe Erde tolerances as a local service (a reference list of these companies can be requested from Rothe Erde). The ideal installation conditions for large antifriction bearings are steel/steel contact.
