The Rothe Erde Eddy Current Monitoring System (ECMS) is a bearing-integrated measuring system to check the raceway and radii of all designs of slewing bearings, predominantly roller bearings, for possible damage such as wear, pittings and cracks.

The ECM system is integrated into the bearing, it monitors continuously the bearing raceways and radii. Rothe Erde bearings which are equipped with this system need not to be removed for the inspections to be made every 5 years. This new developed monitoring system has been fully approved by Det Norske Veritas and Lloyd's Register of Shipping.

The system can be used for new bearings and for retrofit programmes.

With the patented invention of an integrated wear measuring device for slewing bearings, Rothe Erde offers an online examination of the maximum tolerated axial clearance of the bearing.

Operation interruptions to determine the axial clearance are not necessary.
